Is that rain or is it snow?
The weather out there doesn’t know.
But it’s coming quickly through the air,
so I won’t be going anywhere.

Winter solstice,

mist cloaked,

evokes kisses.

Ice blue skies

white ground

I see the breath

of passers by.

Today I’ll hide

warmly dressed

snuggling next to you

by the fire, inside.

The

rasping

scraping

roaring

splattering

of the snow plow

going past,

wakes me rudely

to awareness of

winter’s arrival,

as I slept.

From the bridge

I look down

upon the frozen creek

and see a red mitten

bobbing  under the ice.

T’is the season

snow is melting

that’s the reason

things are smelling

Get the shovel

bag all  the crap

shoulder muscles

ache while it splats

into the bag

Excrement is

winter’s last joke:

dog- doo dizzy

I want to choke!

.

Home from vacation and duty calls!  Yuck.  The back yard melt reveals  a lot of mess.  Gross.

poem- spring? March 15, 2014

Last night

I fell asleep planning

an ensemble:

beige, flowing garments

open shoes

bare skin, no socks.

Spring is here!

Celebrate!

I awoke

to see snowflakes filling the sky

giant two inch diameter

behemoth flakes

mocking my dreams of spring.

Wardrobe re-think.

Boots today.

Again.

Still.

Winter

marching

heavily through spring.

Winter

march

away,

and take

all this falling snow

with you.

.

.

Heavy snow today, making the highway treacherous.  Fun drive to work.  We’re ready for less white and more warmth in the air!

Snow falling

a white world

Pure motives

clean character

Love calling

to warm bed

longing

laughing

falling.

Snow falling outside the window

Snow falling on the venues at Sochi

While I watch winter,

I dream of hot water:

Olympic bath time.

(They don’t offer a medal for shivering

and that’s my best winter activity).
