If I refuse to wear my boots,
choose a light jacket instead of that coat,
keep my feet on gravel, ignore snow piles,
can I force winter to go?
Beguile spring with my wiles?
If I refuse to wear my boots,

can I force winter to go?
Beguile spring with my wiles?
Periwinkle sky
In the eaves trough tinkle the trickles
of melting snow.
Hope for spring
burst by tomorrow’s
forecast.
At last
you are shedding the neutral grey and white,
wrapping yourself in a green gown,
sparkling with iridescent dew
tumbling like velvet
into a glassy pool
still ice cold,
quivering on the brink.
Hear the promise:
morning chorus, finches singing
their hopeful hearts to spring.
#haibun (I hope!) for #NaPoWriMo Day 12
I’ve never tried a haibun before. I hope I’ve caught the sense of them.
Oh winter!
Release your tenacious grip!
Quit dripping this mix
of snow and rain,
that piles up in my yard.
It’s making me insane!
It’s April now, and white
should be from blossoms,
not snow falls; this isn’t right!
Oh, winter, we’re through with you here;
go visit the Southern hemisphere!
NaPoWriMo 2018 #1
Valley green like velvet in the morning light
waves rippling, sun twinkling;
sun stars captured on water,
dazzling.
Everywhere are lush reminders
of blessing
rising with the water,
over-flowing with the creeks,
sliding with the mud.
Blessings and curses.
It could be worse.
It could be worse
than being trapped in paradise.
The green gold glistens
in the spring light
waving languidly in the breeze
as if to greet friends
seen from a great distance.
The boots are on.
Laced up tight.
Little Xs pulling things together
(Are those hugs or kisses?)
No matter.
When you’re giving winter the boot,
either
is a good message to wear.

Fluevog.com Miracles Logan boots from the “Narrative of the Grey Boot Quest” blog post.
I always feel slightly super powered when I wear these boots, though I can’t wear them if I’m running late for work since it takes 4 minutes per boot to lace them up! 🙂
The ground hog said spring was coming
but the snow falling outside my window
begs to differ.
