She’s waiting for the words

he will not say.

She’s waiting for the words

he should not say.

She’s waiting for the words

he does not say.

She’s waiting for the words

he could not say.

She’s waiting for the words

he can not say.

She’s waiting for the words.

is worth more than anything

at the Academy Awards.

Once,

next to my hair salon of choice,

there was an amazing jewelry store.

Before an appointment,

I’d peruse the sparkling wares,

and occasionally I’d be captivated,

to leave a great percentage

of my pay cheque there,

in exchange for lasting, glistening baubles.

Now,

next to my hair salon of choice,

these is an amazing chocolate store.

Before an appointment,

I peruse the creamy, sweet wares,

and always I am captivated,

to leave a small percentage

of my pay cheque there,

in exchange for momentary ecstasy on my tongue.

She moves one

tiny foot in front of the other,

embracing her future,

present and past.

.

Through mourning,

the light returns

brushing softly

touching tenderly

with morning.

“The Light Returns” by Elaine Holmes
Charcoal on board 4X6 feet
From collection of J&S Bird

.

We just hung this large, stunning drawing in our house.  Elaine Holmes is an artist and teaching colleague from down the road.  I fell in love with the piece at an exhibition in the Salmon Arm Arts Centre called “Dark Nights” 10 artists celebrating the solstice.  We’re delighted to own it!  It just asked for its own poem.  🙂

Swelling protectively

Guard against weakness

Pretend to be bigger

Ache inside.

This joint needs stretching.

Lean into the pain,

just a little push.

Hold there,

on the edge of the agony.

Relax back.

Lean again; push

just

a little

further.

Stretch the joint;

flexibility is necessary,

when you may need to run,

eventually.

poem- swing February 17, 2015

So why does a kilt catch all the girls’ eyes?

The risk that men run and what she might spy,

Should breeze catch a pleat and lift to the sky?

No, what catches the eye and makes hearts sing,

what makes her desire her own highland fling

is the lad’s stance and the way that kilt swings!

A man in a kilt breathes confidence, aye?

So don that kilt, laddie, make the girls sigh

when you swing those pleats as you saunter by!

.

.

A little rhyming for you today.  😉

“It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing, doo wah doo wah, doo wah doo wah!”

Her body next to him is not enough

For him to believe in love.

He must believe he is lovable,

in order to love someone else.

If she is worth romancing,

would she be with him?

He must believe he is lovable

in order to love someone else.

If he is unworthy of love, how can

he encourage her to love him

through hearts, flowers, and love letters?

He must believe he is lovable

in order to love someone else.
