She’s waiting for the words
he will not say.
She’s waiting for the words
he should not say.
She’s waiting for the words
he does not say.
She’s waiting for the words
he could not say.
She’s waiting for the words
he can not say.
She’s waiting for the words.

If those words are, “Will You Marry Me?” I’d tell her to stop waiting, dump him and go live your life. That’s what I did and never look back! Living Single! Living Golden!
Who knows what the words are! The reader gets to submit his/her own answer to that question, don’t they? 😉
True. She could be waiting for him to say, “Honey, I’ll cook tonight and take out the garbage!” LOL!!
Or “I’m leaving you after 50 years of spite” or “I’m ready to get a puppy” or “I’m done with drinking and drugs” or “I’m giving up my horrible job and will follow my passion, as you have always encouraged me” or “I am content.” Who knows?
Love this poem. Short yet rich with feeling, deep emotion. Awesome
Thank you, Kimberly.
The waiting is the hardest part.
Though anticipation is sometimes better than the event.
That is a great point. 🙂
“I love you” I heard it as an echo whispered softly after each “he ____ not say”…
🙂
Sweet patience
lol perhaps
Amazing work!
Thanks, Sarah
The tension is real.
I’m glad you feel it, Jason. Thanks for stopping by.
waiting in vain…he is saying it without words!
Is he?
Or saying the opposite…silence also has its message
Indeed.
“She’s waiting for the words he should not say” Because she doesn’t know what to do after hearing it! HahaxD Love this one.
Lots to ruminate on, for sure! 😉
Exactly. Haha. It’s the feeling when you wanna hear it but at the same time you don’t want to.
Wow!
Thanks for coming by Anvita!
