Look up!
Opalescent sky,
lavender pink kissed,
pearl shimmering;
sun setting behind pines,
blushing beauty,
dipping under mountains.
Periwinkle sky
In the eaves trough tinkle the trickles
of melting snow.
Hope for spring
burst by tomorrow’s
forecast.

What it is,
what it isn’t,
converging in a secret wish.
She knew
from the very beginning
what it is,
didn’t let anyone
force her to accept
what it isn’t,
held herself together,
past and future
converging in a secret wish.

The form of a cascade is to create a free verse first stanza, and then repeat subsequent lines of that first stanza at the ends of the following stanzas, cascading the lines from the first stanza throughout the poem. This form was created by Udit Bhatia.

,
I waited for you
wishing for a miracle
on that long night
so long ago, and yet
I live in that moment still;
I waited for you,
holding your hand,
counting your breaths
wishing for a miracle.
Hospital bed,
The click of knitting needles,
on that long night.

Are you related to? she asked
naming names.
Not those.
These, I reply.
Ah! Her!
Yes! So, you’re the writer!
I am.
and she’s a?
Yes.
She said that…
It was actually like this…
Oh!
I am a writer, too
but I’m not published yet.
I can help.
Small town networking.
Each day I arrive here
Look around
and notice it feels less like home.
Remember laughter,
feel their dreaming,
it’s all still here,
but where are my desires leading?
Could this all be coming to a close?
Are talent, skills, and luck
coalescing into
something new?
