(A cascade poem)
,
I waited for you
wishing for a miracle
on that long night
so long ago, and yet
I live in that moment still;
I waited for you,
holding your hand,
counting your breaths
wishing for a miracle.
Hospital bed,
The click of knitting needles,
on that long night.

The form of a cascade is to create a free verse first stanza, and then repeat subsequent lines of that first stanza at the ends of the following stanzas, cascading the lines from the first stanza throughout the poem. This form was created by Udit Bhatia.

FWIW- we did get the miracle, and four more years.

This is so beautiful – the knitting needles clicking ..
Thanks. I wonder where the project went, actually.
Oh I’m glad you’re not asking me – I have unfinished projects everywhere
I have 3 knitting projects on my coffee table alone! lol
Hahaha 😂
Cool form.
Super cool, Its a new concept to me. Do you happen to teach online or something like that? I don’t have formal training in poetry but I’d like to learn a few things 😊
Hi Mwiitu, I don’t teach on-line, I am a high school English teacher in my day job. I am slowly creating a poetry writing book, but in the meantime, I recommend Ted Kooser’s The Poetry Home Repair Manual which is excellent.
Thank you for the recommendation. 😊
i was busy, an besides, did your god care?
How the weather?
