Maybe, they told me.  Maybe.

For stretches, for weeks, it’s a same old day,

but my brain starts to hum whenever I remember,

Maybe, it tells me.  Maybe today.

.

.

Oh! The anticipation!  Will it be?  Won’t it?  It’s like waiting for lottery numbers to be drawn.

#Outlander poetry- Jamais etre pris vivant October 8, 2015

Jamais être pris vivant,

for to be martyred to a great cause

is man’s greatest achievement;

a sacrifice of love,

so say the rolls of honour,

and the government never lies.

Jamais être pris vivant,

for to return from horror

is to revisit it in dreams,

to sacrifice freedom of mind

and peaceful sleep.

Jamais être pris vivant,

for the love waiting for you

will not tolerate your absence,

will battle with the darkness

will pull you into light.

Jamais être oublié vivant,

for a life embracing love

triumphs despite nightmares,

for hope defeats death.

.

.

I just finished viewing the whole 2nd half of Outlander season one today, and then flipped back to “The Watch.”  The French army toast “Never be taken alive!” seemed particularly poignant in light of Claire’s efforts to pull Jamie back from the brink, hence this poem.

poem- choices August 28, 2015

When you choose what brings you joy

When you choose who gives you laughter

When you choose what makes you sing

When you choose who really matters

Then each moment and each thing

you do, makes happiness deploy.

I wait for the elevator.

She waits for the elevator.

They wait for the elevator.

We wait for the elevator.

Wait

Wait

Wait

for the elevator.

Rap Rap Rap, cane on elevator door.

“We’re working on it!” come the call.

Wait.

Wait.

Wait.

for the elevator.

poem- Thank you July 10, 2015

Thank you

though you broke my heart into pieces

that never quite went back together the same way again,

Thank you.

You said I knew you better than anyone.  I floated on those words

hopeful they meant forever.

You knew and every word was true.

But knowing didn’t mean staying.

Knowing meant facing painful truths

Knowing didn’t erase you,

it released me.

Thank you.

In a minute

we can rage

strife chagrin

strife mend

In a minute

all can change

life begin

life end.

In a minute

In a second

Breath

Gone.
