Tonight’s sunset

is a thin strip of pink ribbon

in a vast blue sky

.

One wispy cloud

reflects the fading sun:

a sliver of bright beauty

to stab devouring darkness.

There on the hillside

A puddle of brilliant light

Sun broken through clouds

I can not move today.

The sky is heavy

and I am immobilized

by grey.

The lake

is a puddle of pink paint

reflecting  clouds glistening Klimt gold

in a sky fixated on fuchsia.

Light is galloping across the hills

Glistening  roan, bay, and dun.

Splotches of palomino and skewbald

reflect the canter of the clouds

across the sun.

The light was so fantastic above Kalamalka Lake on the drive home today.  I wish I’d had a camera to capture the long light, and gleaming fields of gold, russet, and brown above the lake!  Words will have to do, though Michael Russell’s beautiful photo will give you an idea of the hills and the cantering clouds, at least!

The fields are reaching

 misty fingers from the earth,

stretching to the sky.

Clouds descend, enfolding all

in their diaphanous cloaks.
