“I know this guy
who chopped off all his fingers in a blender.”
What? Was he intoxicated? drunk? high?
“Nope.”
You’re kidding. Why would he do that?
“Well, you know, he wanted to prove he could touch
the middle of the chopping part without getting hurt.”
But he couldn’t, apparently.
Shrug. “I guess not.”
Huh.
“Yeah. People from Calgary are stupid.”

Sometimes, I am very afraid for the youth of today.
OH yes! But they are the same in my small town as well! WOW that is super funny and I was going to country boys tend to do some really goofy things too! 🙂
I just cringe, because they come up with the stupidest stuff, and then don’t back down.
The rebuttal on the story above, came from another student who knew someone who took his hand off with an axe, to prove he was brave. Right. He died from exsanguination. One for the Darwin Awards.
Oh wow! I guess I need to go up and read the one before as well! Keep up the amazing work! 😀
Thanks, Michelle.
Dear God. I guess we can be glad that he is out of the gene pool?
Indeed.
Oh dear
I know.
luckily, most of the stupid things we do don’t have such permanent results…
So much better when they don’t- like frozen tongues stuck on flagpoles… Painful lessons, but not life threatening.
Well, they call is as they see it, right? That’s why it’s our job as adults to help them develop proper perspective. 🙂
Oi vay.
My older brother, when he was about 5, stuck his hand in a blender and turned it on. My mother asked why he did it, and his only response was that he wanted to make a handshake. (end of the story, 120 stitches and 40 years later, he is a phenomenal artist using that hand, somehow he missed all the important stuff.)
Ouch.
Glad he’s okay!
I will never think of a ‘handshake’ quite the same way again!
ROTF LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would be funny if it wasn’t true…
😦
OMG I’m not sure if I’m more terrified that this happened or that I’m not surprised this happened. smh, these are the times I worry about who will be running the world when I’m old and grey.
My consolation is that we have some brilliant, talented, and very intelligent grade 12 students.
I suspect that those with this kind of incredibly low survival instincts will check themselves out of the gene pool relatively quickly. The smart ones will stick around.
Hi Shawn – Just wanted you to know that I nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award. There is a special tab on my blog for it. I don’t know if you do these or not (my first, probably last time) but I have a link there that will bring readers to your blog.
Hi Laine,
While I thank you very much for the kind nomination, as per my Blog Award Policy posted above, I decline.
I think I will add that to mine because it’s a lot of work that I feel obligated to do. Though I didn’t notice it on yours lol, it seems a good policy.
Yeah, no one seems to notice. 😉 If you look on the page, there are even people who comment on that page with nominations, which is kind of funny.
I wonder about the learning curve there…
Very high.
No opportunities to get it wrong…
