I can relate to this poem though not with my veins. So far I still have great legs at age 55. My new guy friend loves my legs. So all that going to the gym works!! However when I was 52 all my hair turned white!! I always thought that it was just a fable that folks turned grey overnight! It’s true. At that point I began my relationship with my SisterFriend named L’Oreal!! In fact she and I are enjoying some Chinese take-out while I remind those greys who’s boss and wait while my Afro magically turns Magenta!! Ooo La La!! Fifty-Five and on Fire!!
Well, you can see from my photos how I deal with THAT issue. lol I was so white at 35 at had to stop dying when I got only got a week before I had to deal with white roots. 🙂
Actually all this time I just thought you had Blond hair!! I know that there are different shades of Blond. So Blondes not only have more fun but those pesky greys are well hidden!! Truthfully I’m having a Great time as a Redhead!!
Oh how funny – my birthday’s approaching *shudder* – and I just wrote something so much like this – different, but so much like this. I don’t wish either one of us the changes of age – but it’s a wonderful feeling to know that you’re not alone. ❤ lol
Hi Shawn!! I still remember your words and how you stay awake till late night to write and read. I was thinking of starting mini series based on the interviews of few wordpress writers and poets for my blog waitforyourcall(dot)wordpress. You are one of them. Questions will be simple. And your individual interview will be published on my blog. Should I consider your presence in it. Do let me know about it 🙂
I’m not 50 yet but this does remind me of what happened right around my 35th birthday. All those lines that weren’t there yesterday suddenly appeared.
lol
So far, no lines. But I’m sure they’re just waiting to burst forth when least expected!
You are a lucky woman!
I think it’s from avoiding the sun, wearing sunglasses, and some great genes.
Lol, I can relate.
😉
I blame it all on the base 10 (decimal) number system.
lol
🙂
I am 49 now. Not liking it much. Not at all though I know I need to just suck it up.
Loved the 40s. Getting a bit worried about the 50s! lol
I love it!
Thanks.

I have some time for this sort of thing during the summer, so if it’s soon, I am able to participate.
That’s great Shawn. I’ll get back to you soon, on this.
The day my hair started to go grey and my mind started to fade I had to ask how old I was
Well, my hair is white (along with purple, blue, & fuchsia) and my memory is a sieve, but I’m still 29. 🙂
Reblogged this on stephanieperez08's Blog.
Yep…we can relate to this one!…Age…the leveller! 🙂
Indeed.
Your recent poetry is maturing nicely (no joke intended about this particular poem). I’m really getting into it…
lol
Thanks
