Change blows in
on the wind
on the sweet scent of honeysuckle
and the stinging tang of chicken manure
Sort the good from the bad,
and set your sail
to catch the breeze you need
for your new direction.

Wonderful! I felt very much at home with the imagery.
Thank you, Erin.
Loved this! That fourth line is such a surprise – but so true!
lol
Shawn, I like the way this one moves. I’ve always appreciated the link between manure and the beauty of roses.
yes- things that fertilize us are frequently unpleasant, but when we absorb them, they can make more beauty in our lives.
You have been on a roll of late. Very inspiring poems!
Thanks.
I’ll be aiming for honeysuckle today. So far so good.
Hopefully one full of hummingbirds and butterflies.
Wow! What pictures you paint! I felt like going for a walk with the wind in my face.
Thank you. Enjoy your walk!
Honeysuckle & chicken manure two scents from my childhood summers that evoke two very different memories.
Care to share them?
Honeysuckle for carefree hot summers days in the garden with nothing but which game to play to worry about. Chicken manure for darker times in a derelict chicken farm. A place I shouldn’t be… Escaping things I don’t want to face… The wonders of childhood.
Sounds like a poem, if not a novel!
