She writes in peacock blue ink
Turquoise words like an equatorial sea–
exotic and dramatic–
vivid colour for vivid dreams,
beyond pedantic black or
boring blue
so dark it’s a black wannabe.
In gatherings of youthful poets
peacock ink predominates.
While pedants declare it’s
a colour coded affectation,
peacock poets know
ink encapsulating sky and sea
makes mere words ethereal–
their metaphor of fundamental creativity.

Beautiful images.
Thanks
Very nice. Your poem reminded me of a critique I received on a ‘professional’ poetry site concerning my poem “Simply Put,” which basically recommended shortening the poem. Within the example provided, the line “A didactic poem of blue ink on off-white paper” would be changed to “A poem of blue on white.” My response is ‘revisited’ in my WordPress post: “Simply (P)ut, symbolism counts”.
Thanks for sharing!
seriously vivid imagery. Love your bold use of colour. Splendid work!
Thanks, Kat.
You’re welcome x
What fun poem that was! Too bad there isn’t a way to make Comments more easily on your page. luv, Parris
Clicking ‘comments’ isn’t easy enough?
A peacock spreading its feathers, very beautiful and meaningful
Thank you.
I love this. Only a compassionate, skilled English teacher could write a poem like this.
lol. I’m not sure being an English teacher has much to do with it, but thanks.
Ah. I must’ve interpreted your poem in an unintended way, lol. :X
