I bought
an adorable black hat
at Goorin Bros.
Tilted the burgundy brim
to the perfect angle
Grabbed my new
wooly black ruana,
draped it around my shoulders
with a flourish, loving the fall
of the ruffled edges,
the weight, the warmth.
I felt my creativity
shouting through the garb,
felt Bohemian, wild, and artistic.
Then I grinned in the mirror
and saw the echo of my
great-grandmother’s
Salvation Army cape and bonnet.
We never get too far away
from home.

This was written just right, love it.
Thanks
Fabulous! I could picture the hat, the ruana, and the whole picture right down to the Salvation Army cape and bonnet. Loved, loved, loved. Your poem brought back memories of my grandmother.
lol I wore my ensemble this morning, and no one else seems to have noticed the Sally Ann connection. π I feel it, though!
Adorable. What a lovely vision:)

What a good, meaty read. I liked the substance of it, and the flow of the words. Nice!
Thanks
Love!
I will have to try to translate it into Finnish… π
I need to get me some wild Bohemian togs…a hat and a wrap…maybe some long skirts and practical boots…
(Very nice imagery here, especially the mirror/echo thing.)
Definitely! Check out my boots: http://www.shawnbird.com/bright-boots or http://www.shawnbird.com/grey-boots They’re very practical. Really. π
