I’m nuttin’
but a simple button.
battling the blues.
Holding fast
amid adversity
standing against stress and strain
I see you stare
I do not care.
While ripping seams are heard in dreams
accompanied by delirious screams
I’m a button with a function–
Keeping everything together
against the odds,
without applause.
For Sam, I can!
Because, madame
I do my button best
clinging lest things explode
against his chest.

Dedicated to the button straining on that blue shirt. It has a Twitter account. Seriously.

Standing against stress and strain eh? Gone are the days my buttons could claim that. I don’t know how many years bad luck I’m due from all the chipped mirrors which have been created by the fourth and fifth buttons down giving up the ghost and pinging everywhere. I have to warn visitors to be careful of ricochet in case I catch an eye. Perhaps it should be zips for me from now on? xxx Huge Hugs xxx
I am not adverse to a bit of Velcro in crucial spots for added support!
Very nice! I will never think of buttons in quite the same way again. 🙂
My favorite comment was made on Twitter: “The button must be Clan MacLeod. Their motto is ‘Hold Fast'” 🙂
haha! Love it!
like this a lot 🙂 o to be a button lol
Indeed!
lol
😉
Lyrical and playful. It immediately put a big smile on my face. It makes me appreciate my own buttons! Great job!
Buttons play a crucial role in maintaining dignity and decorum in a world frequently lacking in both. Occasionally, they are a last line of defense…
the beauty of ordinary things.

I’m glad you enjoyed what you saw! Welcome back any time! 🙂
My button got the eye but wrong eye.
I am all thumbs : even a shirt front
can tell that.
lol Well done! 🙂
Cute poem. Fun to read, and it left me with a vision of that button.
Poor button. Working so hard, and so many are begging for it to fail!
Nice comparison to life!
One could be quite figurative with this, though I was being literal, based on the photo in question (see the link to the Twitter account).
