The scenic route was lovely

and when I attempted to return to the highway

I took a wrong turn and found myself

above it all.

Beautiful blue sky day

The lake vividly stretching before me.

I savour the view as a serendipitous

opportunity to slow down

and look around.

No hurry.

Kalamalka Lake.  Taken with my iPhone.

Through the grass you can see the highway I was supposed to have been on.

Instead, I ended up on a cul de sac of nice homes.

Kal Lake grass forefront

What if the trite words “lovely” and “beautiful” were replaced by “magnetic” and “Cobalt,” respectively? If “Cobalt” itself seems stale or overworked to your ear, there are dozens of other words describing shades of blue. Just my two cents worth. 🙂

  4. How many ‘wrong’ turns does it take to make a life ‘right’:-) What a view!

A lovely photo and poem. I love taking drives – exploring new places. You never really know what you may discover. I lived in my neighborhood since May. Every now and then I go off the beaten path – I am never disappointed. I think people should explore more often. I know that gas prices are high and it may not be the ‘green’ thing to do – unless you walk or bike – but a little off the path is not such a waste.

    • The old “Sunday Drive” is a lost art! I have a Beetle TDI. I get 1000 km on a tank, which is usually a $60 fill. I am probably in a better position than most to explore! (Although it is VERY low to the ground, and would be inclined to get stuck if I was too far off the well beaten path!) 🙂

Since you mentioned “cliche,” I’ll join in: wherever you are is where you’re supposed to be.

    • This isn’t a well crafted piece by any stretch of the imagination, and I know it. The poem is really in the photo. 🙂

Please know my comment was not meant in any way to be negative. I truly believe at any moment, we are where we are supposed to be. Your wrong turn was actually the right turn.

      • Oh, I didn’t interpret it negatively Theresa. I thought you were objecting to the person who commented on the weak words, and I just wanted to be clear that I don’t mind being called out on a wimpy effort. lol. And you’re right. It was a right turn. It was supposed to be a left! 😉
