Heart tight bound again
with futile cords. Door echoes.
Yearly denouement
.
A plant can not thrive
uprooted every few months.
I am still root-less
.
How can teachers bloom?
Hopeful blossoms fight
‘gainst futility.

ah, the refreshing notion of re-invigorating ourselves for the soon coming onslaught of the fall! 🙂
Easier when the hiring is done and positions are lined up. Good thing I am easy-going!
Ah, I didn’t realize you were an administrator – that is the summer battle isn’t it?
Ha! Definitely not an administrator! Class room teacher, but not in a continuing position in a school, so I pick up contracts by the semester or year, usually about a week before I start.
Oh I see – happy summer
and you! 😉
Reblogged this on Spontaneous Creativity.
well if i had 3 months off id take at least a few week vacation to some beautiful spot in the werld and go do what one does best, relax write poetry, hike, climb, fly, whatevr ur fancy, i’d jest do it if i could afford it:)…fewd fer thought! yeah have a great summer and make the best of it! thats for sure:)……..an teachers bloom when they see the results every spring of the good students they taught, i believe…even if they do feel, see and sense the dorrs shutting till the next class around, next time!……………………peace out! be safe nomatter what ya do!
We don’t have 3 months off. I finished work yesterday. We start up again the first week of September, so the last week of August (or last 2 weeks) is spent in preparation for the new school year. So there are 6 or 7 weeks.
If you don’t have a job lined up in the fall, your vacation options are somewhat limited. We live in paradise, so no need to go anywhere. I will be finishing a novel, submitting 2 completed novels, putting out some poetry chapbooks, prepping to begin my Masters in the fall, and reading 20 or 30 books. It will be a full summer, but I will miss my students!
Is being a teacher that bad?
Oh no, being a teacher is GREAT. Being laid off is not so great. Having to wait until the last moment to get a contract is not so great. Facing uncertainty and never having the security to grow a program, definitely not great. I love teaching. I love my students. I love that we’re paid a good wage. I just would really like some job security after so many years.
oh I did not know that! Sorry! I hope you get a good contract that offers you job security and peace of mind. 🙂
Oh, I’ll get a contract that gives me a few months of work, and then I’ll be in this same situation next year. I’m used to it. 😉
