and so you live

in dreams

twitching at imaginary foes

muttering speeches

you will not remember in the morning

as I will awaken

and forget

you.

I’ll link to this one, via a site that actually has permission to reprint this poem.  🙂

I have had  a little plaque that says “Dwell in possibility” for several years now, and only today did I get around to actually looking up the poem itself.  Wow.  Kinda a profound!  It also fits with my philosophy of life.   Check it out:

I don’t know you

and now I never will.

I wanted to.

.

Now you’re gone forever

and I will never

know you,

love you.

.

But I will grieve

for what

might have been.

heart pounding contest entering September 9, 2012

My heart is pounding as if I’d just been running a race.

Was I?

No.

All I did was push “Send.”

I find it interesting, in a curiously analytical way, that one little finger drop, a quarter inch of movement, can cause such palpitations.

The last time I felt like this, I was dropping a manuscript into the mail.

And so I am again, I suppose.

A short story is off to a Big Contest.

Big as in:  Famous judges.  Serious cash.

This is the kind of contest that

has professionals entering:

the ‘in some circles rather famous’

kind of professionals.

I’m joining the game, and now begins the wait.

How close to their skill am I?

Will my entry wallow in the  ‘not quite there’ pile

or shine in the ‘consider this’ pile?

I’ve done all that I can do.

It’s gone,

and my heart pounds a tattoo of farewell.

Now we wait

to see which possibility

unfolds.

star dust March 11, 2012

“The secret has been within you since the day you were born.  We are all children of the stars–everything is.”

Martin and Carranza in The Gaudi Key

Where did I read that this is literally true?  Our nature as “carbon based life forms” shows that genetically we are full of star dust.  Crazy, isn’t it?  What secret is within us when we emerge bloody from the womb, open to the infinite possibility that is life itself?  What secret waits to tell us our purpose or destiny?  What is yours?

Possibility.

Within each glimmer of it
Dreams are born
Ventures are launched
Hope is the fuel for the journey.

Whether it brings victory or defeat
There is always
‘Next time…’

‘maybe…’

and
‘If…’
