“I appreciate

how you’re always

so colourful,” my colleague said,

echoing words I’ve heard before

from people I admire.

Sometimes I feel

like a rainbow

in a gray scale world.

Or the one colourized character

in a black and white film.

Someone has

brighten dreary days,

and add vividness to boring views.

It could be you,

but it’s me.

Your gift

My heart

Your time

My money

Your devotion

My desire

Either way

Us.

They can not see beyond the fog

that is all they seek.

Escape.

They fall altered into pharmaceutical

reality.

Mist like creeping mustard gas

poisons their future

stealing their hopes

ruining their dreams.

They fill their days

seeking nebulous security

altered beyond

recognition.

.

.

For those kids and their families battling with addiction who most need education and school supports to develop health and security.

Even not

deciding

is a

Change blows in

on the wind

on the sweet scent of honeysuckle

and the stinging tang of chicken manure

Sort the good from the bad,

and set your sail

to catch the breeze you need

for your new direction.
