This is not where I expected to be,

but they were right when they said

if you don’t plan where you’re going

you may not like where you end up.

So I am not staying.

The view is crushing.

The map is out, and every step of this journey

is planned.  Tour guide at the ready,

ready to keep me going in the right direction.

I know the next destination, and I’m setting off

on a pilgrimage of sacrifice,

to atone for foolish wanderings,

and find the self I lost along the way.

so much so this resonates with me. i had been drifting with the tide, selfish but not selfloveing, ignoring who i really am. and yet that is a part of me as well. a year ago today my journey really ramped up with the arrival of a key. it took a month before i used it and even then i almost blew it. but that door is forever unlocked now, and the undiscovered country unfolds. I only need to be brave enough, to acknowledge my strength, trust my heart, and to love myself. self love is not selfish, it is the foundation of compassion. When that fills the sails, the ship cannot go wrong.
