Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, they say

and all around me is grey.

The hills are obscured by haze

the acrid scent of it bites my nostrils

creates an ache in my throat, until

I want to go anywhere but here, where

there is fear of fires leaping valleys

razing the city.  July in BC, seems to mean

burning bushes, without any sign of divinity.

Got you guys on my list!

  2. I sense that B.C. is as prone to the ravages of summer as are California and the Mountain States, and why would it be otherwise? Oh, I wish it were otherwise- so many suffering, year after year, from Siberia, clear to Mexico.

    • I remember the occasional fire in my youth, but in the last 20 years it seems like they have been getting worse and worse. I don’t remember smoke filling the valley like happens regularly. Climate change in action, I presume.

Very scary stuff, never to be underrated.

Oh how sad and it is scary!

Wish we could send you some of our rain. I hope you get some soon.
