poem-between the lines March 16, 2015

quit hunting between the lines

for secret messages!

The pondering that ravages your mind

is funny.

Sometimes a like is just a like,

it’s not a matter of spite

a declaration of might,

suggestion you’re right,

it’s just a like.

‘Nice words.  I heard them.’

‘Well phrased.  This stays with me.’

‘You posted.  Yay!’

Quit running with the attitude

that everything’s about you.

Relax.  Let live.  Don’t stress.

I don’t care if you’re wearing pants or dress.

If you look like Hans but feel like Sue.

I’m not gunning after you!

Do what you want to do.

But don’t read between my lines

and imagine that in my rhymes

I’m referring to you.

(Though this one time,

it’s true,

I do).

(Sometimes I get weird email.  I should just ignore it, but sometimes it’s inspiring.  What can I say?)

  1. Sometimes I get weird, crazy & off putting responses to my Blog Posts but I just hit the Spam button. The world is full of wackos. Here’s my song for Strange People.

The Doors – People Are Strange

    • I love it when you post your song links, Deborah. 🙂

      • Shawn, My memory for the childhood songs of the 1960s and 70s is spot on. Must be a sign of old age!! Ha! Ha! I crack up my co-workers on a regular basis because I seem to have a song for every situation!! LOL!! Anyway I hope the self-absorbed all about me dummies stop sending you stupid emails. I guess it could be a form of entertainment if not too offensive. Love your wordplay as always!

      • Just keep singing! 🙂

It’s just weird. One doesn’t want me to follow his blog because I don’t go on there all the time and stroke his ego. Another has interpreted things I’ve written as personal insults. I think it takes a special kind of narcissist to send such emails to someone who doesn’t know them. You have to feel sorry for the poor souls, and hit delete.

      • Yes they are lost souls looking for attention but they need to see a minister, pastor or psychiatrist instead of insulting you. Some kinda therapy. Pressing the Delete button is the correct way to go. I’ve had to do the same within various Poetry Groups. Best not to get drawn into somebody else’s drama. Stay strong My Poetic SiStar!

    Well played words

  4. Too much time on their hands
    or just swollen glands,
    “It’s all about me”
    So often just fantasy

    • “If the shoe fits, wear it?” perhaps?

I suppose if we think something applies to us, that can be a good thing, if it brings about self-analysis and positive change. When it brings about whining and attacks at the source of the material, it’s not a good thing. It’s just self-indulgent negativity.

Lol I love it. When I see posts like that on facebook, it usually means it’s time to unfollow or unfriend that person. If you have a problem, say it to someone’s damn face!

Also, this poem is great. I love the rhythm of the words and the rhyming scheme you used. 🙂 It has a bouncy beat to it (or at least it did in my head).

  6. wachiram Says:

    masterpiece. left me pensive.
