Every hour on the hour
the baby wakes you up
and in a stupor you stagger
to diaper it, feed it, and cuddle it.
every hour on the hour
the incision wakes me up
and in a stupor I reach for drugs
to temper it, relieve it, and smother it.
It is like having a new baby
without the benefit of oxytocin
to make me love the torturer.

Ugh! I know the feeling. When I had eye surgery back in Jan. 2010 every time I rolled over to my left side that pain would wake me up! Plus the first two days after my retina surgery I looked like the Mummy’s Wife!! I think I was given either Tylenol or Advil for pain. Not an experience I would wish on anybody or want to relive. Take it easy, get rest and please feel better soon. I salute the Walking Wounded!!
I am on alternate doses of both Advil and Tylenol. I take one when I wake, then the other the next time I wake. I’ve been awake hourly. It is most unpleasant. I have used the term “bone deep pain’ before, but I have a new appreciation for the phrase. My bone hurts, the incision hurts. They send echoes of their pain up my leg. Not going to be a fun day.
I’ve nominated you for the Sisterhood Of The World Bloggers Award. 🙂 see the details here http://saadiapeerzada.wordpress.com/2015/01/10/337/

That incision is a torturer which should be destined for a short life.
It is excruciating. (must look up etymology of that word).
I am not a happy camper.
