I love those moments, that feeling, so well expressed here. I was sitting with a close friend not too long ago, and she leaned over and just nonchalantly says “You know, our hearts are the only part of us that’s ever really met.” And it floored me, I had no idea how to respond to that. Perhaps next time I see her, I’ll read her this. Thank you for a lovely poem with an even more lovely sentiment.
I feel this way about my BF. We have different work hours and days off. Having conflicting schedules and being in a relationship is tough. The only day off we have in common is Sunday so that’s our day to be together. I’m going to keep gently encouraging him to retire next year when he turns 65. Even though I will still have to work if he retires then we can spend more time with each other instead of at work.
Yes I too wish there was a better more appropriate terminology. I’m in my 50s, he’s in his 60s so we are not “girls” or “boys”. Long past that stage!! Good side is that I have vacation time coming in September so that will give us more couple time.
Naw! Unless he has a surprise for me we’ll be hanging out in the Big Apple. However it would be nice to take a quick trip to Washington, DC, Virginia or Maryland. Once he retires then we can think about overseas travels.
We try to get out of country every year once or twice (though once tends to be into US which isn’t far). I had hoped to spend this summer writing in France, but our teachers’ strike looked like it was going to be a long term event, so I gave it up. Next year, I hope.

you leave me speechless… but this is how I feel right at this exact moment… #scandalous 💜
I really like this. It reminds me of something I once wrote which is along the same lines… and I love it when I find that someone has expressed the same feeling or thought as I have, in nearly the same words.
It is nice to know that intimacy… with a total stranger… because it reminds me that we are all the same; only we come in a different wrapper and on a different isle.
love!! just love this
Thanks Charissa

I can’t help associate the term boyfriend with someone about 16. We need another word for those partners in our adult life! 😉
Good luck with together time!

Are you going somewhere exciting? (I vote for Paris!) 😉 (I hear Scotland is beautiful in September)

It’s cool, I should have researched what it was prior to doing it, I can’t really say I agree with it either. Either way, the compliment still stands.
