(but I had enough character, so I moved to interior of BC where we have seasons that are just what they’re supposed to be, within the calendar schedule allotted to them). 🙂
Yes, my cousin is in Alberta and tells me tales of their daughter leaving for school with a winter jacket and coming home with just a sweater it was so warm.
lol
Anyone who has ever lived in Calgary has lots of stories, that’s for sure.
Blizzards that made it impossible to cross the street to U of C, because snow was to our hips- MAY 4th! lol
-20C on the way to school, so you’re bundled until only your eyes show, but at noon a chinook has moved in, and when you go home for lunch you can skip a coat going back to class, because now it’s +20c in January…
wull …. but those are great memories aren’t they? i remember as a kid being so cold from ice skating all day that i walked home with my skates on carrying my shoes, frozen snot on my upper lip and salty tears on my cheeks. Man … it was great! thank you so much for your words …. ks
oh and …. how lucky you were to be able to go home for lunch! i don’t think kids today have any idea what it was like to go home to eat lunch. thick bologna sandwiches, a big glass of milk and maybe time to watch a little Soupy Sales on t.v. before going back to school for a little soft ball before the bell rang. oh well … oh the memories. ks
Weather in Calgary Bi-Polar like New York City weather!! Oh Yes, off topic but I too loved Soupy Sales as a child. Loved his buddy Fang and the fact that he always got hit with a Cream pie at the end of the show! Great 60s Memories!
i love this. excellent idea- the weather is like her, she is like the weather.
Indeed.
I love this characterization.
Thanks, Justina!
(cool name, btw)
Thank you. (-: It means justice. You’re really good at writing poetry.
Thank you. I’ve been doing it a while, so I hope I get it right now and then! 😉
Haha Same here with my writing.
Oh I don’t envy thee!!
It builds character! 😉

lol I once climbed a hill in my skates, with the idea of luging down it. Bad idea.

Yes. It is something fewer kids know today, that’s for sure.
So well said of most weather central U.S. and north, possibly short of the Arctic Circle…for now! Geesh! 🙂

English weather is just the same. Loved the imagery
Calgary is in a class by itself- the 40 degree Celsius swings within a few hours are quite astounding.
Wow. Didn’t know that
The phenomenon is explained here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinook_wind
