poem- card store holidays February 14, 2014

Florists

and card stores

declare a forced affair:

“Purchase a card and dozen roses

or your affections are suspect!”

I prefer

memories carved

each morning from

all the days before

in a collection of kisses

stretching back through

years of anniversaries

Memories of Mister and Missus.

(Though notes are nice,

and I like roses, on sale).

many friends have similar sentiments today, but I loved your humorously contradictory ending

I was at the grocers this morning and thinking the exact same thing. Every day should be a day of love and memories made.

Every day should be Valentine’s Day.

I love this poem showing that the companies like card stores and florists make you feel like you have to buy the most expensive thing to show your true love. Your perspective is something I respect and admire, the fact that its not the show of the gift that matters as much as the meaning that is behind it. That is what I got from it.
