They lie

across my lids

stuck like  caterpillars

Coyly magnifying

each magnificent blink,

each flirtatious flutter,

adding power to each

sultry glower,

Prepare prey

to be ensnared,

enter and be

rendered helpless,

as I flash

these false

eyelashes.

Today is hubby’s birthday, and I managed to get these lashes back on (last worn on my birthday, see photo above).  They’re fun, but they sure feel weird! 😉

    sultry glower… love that.

    • Runway models are very good at the sultry glower. It’s the look unattractive men frequently get from very beautiful women, I think. (I do not have a sultry glower; I have a petulant glower, which is not nearly as effective).

      • vicbriggs's avatar vicbriggs Says:

That’s a great way to explain this, Shawn. Thank you. I’m not sure whether I have a glower… Will have to think on this. My taste in men has been called… odd. I liked Cumberbatch long before it became fashionable to like him, and all my friends used to say “Him? Eww”
        🙂

      • I do not know who Cumberbatch is, so I’ll have to go google him before I can comment. 😉 Christopher Reeve and Pierce Brosnan set my heart a flutter. 😉 That and the guy at the Fluevog store last week, clad in black suit, sensible tie and fitted wool coat, who was trying on black Fluevogs, when he slipped off his shoes to reveal mulit-coloured checkboard socks. If I hadn’t been married (and wildly in love, obviously) I’d have propositioned him. 😉

      • I have discovered Ben Cumberbatch. Right. He’s got a rather boyish charm thing going on, doesn’t he? I can see the appeal.

      • vicbriggs's avatar vicbriggs Says:

Benedict Cumberbatch. Umm… where to begin. He is currently the most sought after Brit in Hollywood and has been voted the sexiest man alive by Americans, with Emma Watson (Harry Potter’s Hermione) taking the same position for women. You’ve probably seen him in something. He seems to be in every blockbuster going these days.
Yep. We all have our darlings to send our hearts aflutter. Love that expression by the way 🙂

      • Isn’t it interesting how they go in cycles. While Emma Watson has developed more skill over the years, I find her a trifle wooden. I hear Catriona Balfe is one to watch: gorgeous and amazing delivery. Once I looked up Cumberbatch, I had seen him on TV. 🙂

      • vicbriggs's avatar vicbriggs Says:

I know what you mean about Emma Watson. I’m sure she will get better with time however. She is very young after all and it is tough making the transition from being a child actor to an adult. Catriona Balfe? New one to me. Love the name though. Will have to do some research in turn. Thank you for the suggestion.
Oh yes… he’s everywhere. Don’t know if you’ve been keeping up with the BBC Sherlock series. Rather good. 🙂

      • I haven’t seen the BBC Sherlock. I’ve been watching Elementary (American new Sherlock with Lucy Liu as Watson). Not sure where to find the BBC version on my dial.

      • vicbriggs's avatar vicbriggs Says:

I know that BBC’s Sherlock has done very well in America too, although I couldn’t help you with where to find it. Will ask on Twitter and see if anyone can help then will get back to you once I have a tip or two.
I watch Elementary too. It’s not quite as unusual in its format as the BBC version is, but I like Jonny’s style 🙂

Excellent poem, Shawn. Indeed flashy and frivolous, the false for real – what an experience.
