poem- if November 5, 2013

If he loved her,

….she thinks

he would greet her every day

with a heart heating hug

with a spine kindling kiss

with glowing eyes.

If he loved her,

….she thinks

he would bid her sleeping form farewell

with grieving eyes

with cuddling kiss

with a heart felt hug

longing to remain.

If he loved her,

….she thinks

he would harness his white horse

unsheath his sword,

charge down her demons,

She doesn’t see,

that he is her champion,

if he sees who she is

and stays to fight for her

when she’s not looking.

She doesn’t see,

that he loves her.

Most of the time, we superimpose love on someone. We indulge ourselves in the illusion that love is a fairy-tale & we end up making the one we love into a character out of fantasy novel. We end up expecting absurd & impossible ACTS OF LOVE from them & if they don’t follow through we get hurt & we get mad. We forget that they are simply humans & they are NOT PERFECT. Wonderful creation, simple yet meaningful especially the last part:
    “She doesn’t see,
    that he is her champion,
if he sees who she is
and stays to fight for her
    when she’s not looking.
    She doesn’t see,
    that he loves her.”
Bravo! Keep safe & stay awesome! 🙂

After re-reading the whole poem I can understand now that the man is the hero and the women doesn’t know the good thing she has going.

Is she thinking too much that she doesn’t notice?

    • Perhaps she is just completed self-absorbed or perhaps she doesn’t understand what she sees because of romantic pre-conceptions. I think frequently people have a weird perspective on what love looks like, and don’t recognize real love in action.

This poem reminds me that women (me included) expect men to automatically understand what we need and want without having to say anything. Only happens in fairy tales and romantic novels. Otherwise, men have no clue until they are told/shown/hit on the head. Communication is key in relationships. And yes, he does love her…
BTW, thanks for stopping by my blog tonight.
