Some years,
September exits in a swish of scarlet, and
October dawns dappled in gold.
But this year,
October is opulent in shimmering emerald velvet.
Forests hold back their adornment.
The morning whispers on wisps of fog beyond
“I will wait.”
All around the lake, summer aches for more time,
grips tight to verdant hues,
and as October embraces green
its ochre arms
bide
the firey glory
of autumn.

Love that one! Especially “emerald velvet”…makes me think of a primeval forest…
Oooh. Yes! Primeval. Mmm.

Wonderful Autumn Season poem. Fits great with my Foggy Misty Morn Central Park photos. Amazing imagery. Excellent wordplay.
Thanks Deborah

I like the mood expressed in this poem and also the alliterations and the “natural” (I mean: non-artificial) flow of this fine opusculum. 😉 cheers serge
Thanks Serge.

I was just thinking this today. I find it odd that the trees are SO green this time of year! You captured this perfectly in your poem. 😀
