The day is grey:
the sky washes the earth.
Dogs curled in tight balls of fur
are not tempted to inspect the outdoors.
We light the fireplace,
watch water streaming down the windows,
we dream of spring
as autumn taunts.

Sounds peaceful.
It is, actually.
Love it … we are having one of those days today in Texas
lol- ah, but you won’t be getting the winter that is waiting to assail us! 😉 Enjoy your grey day!
No … still very warm & humid … but the cats have slept all day & I have to confess to napping as well!!!
We had one of those days yesterday. Today,we have blue skies with cool temperatures.
Beautiful poem, stating simple, loving and restful times. One to remember.
Thank you for your kind words!
Hi, Shawn! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Can’t wait to read more of your work, and your posts. Cheers and happy writing,
Ditto!

Lovely! We had rain literally smashing the windows today. Went puddle-jumping and umbrella-chasing with my brother. Now enjoying the peaceful side of fall. 🙂
That sounds delightful! I miss jumping in puddles. I need to get some new rubber boots and see if I can find some.
I could picture the scene in my mind’s eye. Lovely.
Thanks.
Does the grey day shun gradation? 🙂
Ha. Clever.
you have painted a lovely picture in my mind – i do love rainy days – the kind where i can just schlep and relax…
It was very relaxing, particularly for the dogs!
good and peaceful
