Prompt #56 What gets better with age?

Me.

.

.

At least so far!  Eventually, I suppose this will reverse, but so far, I feel like every year is better than the one before.  How about you?

  1. Nope.

I am less patient, because I realize how short life really is. I have less tolerance, because to tolerate some people’s behavior means allowing people to treat people badly while I look the other way. I get angry more, because I realize how people use their power to just please themselves. I get frustrated easily, because I see that those who really try are not rewarded, while those who just show up get paid.
Nope. Not better. Tougher, a bit meaner, quicker to speak. The meek may inherit the earth, but I can’t wait that long.

Were you happier before? Sounds like you’re a better advocate for the downtrodden than previously, providing of course that you’re channelling those ‘tougher’ feelings into action.

  2. No, I’m not sure I noticed them as much. We all tend to be pretty self centered as youth.

What I see is how much some people are denied opportunities because of selfishness of others. Change can happen, but sometimes it is too late.

I’d say “Vote NDP” but I see you’re not in Canada. Socialism has been a great boon here, particularly when the NDP has held the balance of power when there has been a minority government. Our best legislation (Medicare, Family allowance) came out of such situations. (I confess to some confusion over their ineffectiveness in our current minority government, but a lot of what’s going on in Ottawa at the moment doesn’t make much sense to me!).
