She told him she needed time.
She’d been pushing him away for months.
She isn’t ready to share her pain.
She needs to embody it, dwell within it.
Accept it.
The squirrel sits in guard position on the bird feeder. Fending off the magpies, crows and bluejays, he keeps the peanuts to himself. Sharing is not his thing. They fly away.
