A poem for Truth and Reconciliation Day.

We hear yesterday’s lost children weeping,
Embrace today’s children,
Reach to tomorrow’s children
With our torn hearts.
.
I gratefully acknowledge that I live and work in the unceded, traditional territory of the Secwepemc people.
Wonderful to see your acknowledgement. People need to do this here as well. for the indigenous Maori in New Zealand.
It was one of the many recommendations that came out of our Truth and Reconciliation Committee’s findings after their examination, in particular, of the societal damage done by residential schools and the government mandate of cultural assimilation.
