I tell myself,

In the process of creation,

her art fulfilled its purpose.

If the family has chosen what to keep

Freeing the rest to the universe

is just extending its mandate

not a betrayal to her

  6. The letting go is such hard work, and it has so many layers, like some great, nightmarish onion. Wishing you peace and comfort as you navigate this difficult passage.

No, it wasn’t a betrayal. It took me and my brothers and sister weeks to empty the pokey little place that was my mother’s last home. It wasn’t because of the volume of stuff (though there was a lot – she had an inability to let go of what she didn’t need). It was because, the more we did, the closer we got to the end of her, and none of us wanted to get there.

    Absolutely beautiful
