Far from home,

surrounded by brown desert,

in a hotel room, alone,

a podcast plays the annual

Christmas Eve story

and the holiday arrives

despite the lack of snow,

gifts,

cookies,

tree,

or children.

CBC plays this beautiful Forsyth short story every year, and I always have a little tear over it.  The late Alan Maitland was a wonderful reader.  http://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/as-it-happens-the-shepherd-edition-2016-1.3907204

  1. Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you and your family.

  2. Beautiful… Happy Christmas to you, Shawn! Thanks for your awesome poetry!

  3. Merry Christmas, one day late. I was in Phoenix, yesterday, as well. Prescott, an hour and fifteen minutes to the north, got 9 inches of snow.

    • Yes! We were planning to head up to Sedona, but cancelled our reservation and stayed a couple days more in Tucson and went a day earlier to Phoenix avoiding that snow! But now we’re home, and DH is shovelling a foot off the driveway, while I’m cozy inside.
