She trusts him
-the truth of him
–the truth of them
but she fears
the helplessness
-having watched him
unfold and unravel
under eyes that glowed
with glorious attention.
Temptation trails closely
behind such glowing eyes
and apparently intelligence
and good intention
are not always
adequte protection
from ampilified admiration.
That’s the truth of them
-the truth of him
–the truth of trust.

A captivating tale of trust. Beautiful work.
Anita.
Life-smart/-balanced tone and message, good structuring/line breaks.
the truth of trust is indeed a great end to this piece…without trust is there a relationship…thanks for sharing Pete
Love is supposed to cast out fear, but somehow it always seems to creep back in–and your point is well taken–intelligence is no protection at all from attraction–from admiration, maybe, if it’s one-sided…a nice layered and well written piece.
Love the cadence and repetition in your lines—the truth of trust = thought provoking, especially given the context of the lines preceding it. Enjoyed reading your poem. Cheers
Interesting take on good intention and admiration..
Beautiful words…
‘apparently intelligence
and good intention
are not always
adequte protection’
I liked this one…

A poem originally posted November 2010 for your reading pleasure.
Central to every relationship is trust. When someones tells you that you have lost their trust it is devastating. Beautifully written Shawn.
Yes. That’s true!
I hope I’ m not completely off base with what this is about, but what I see from “them”, is that there isn’t any real trust. That is sad 😦
No, the point is that even when there is trust, there is still fear (which may or may not by justified).
don’t worry, love is the final irresistible impulse, the final immovable object. lovely poem, good work
Thanks

glorious attention, amplified admiration…those things that dim with the passing of years when we stop seeing “love” and start seeing each other.
Or just see each other and no longer see love…
Relationships are very complex! Trusting through the troubled times takes REAL trust!
Beautiful as always Shawn. xx http://barsetshirediaries.wordpress.com/2013/07/07/inspiring-me/

I’m reblogging this for Day 6 of July for Loki.
Is July 6 Loki’s day? That could seriously explain my life.
Actually, there is an underground plot to make July Loki’s Month. So, yes and maybe.
🙂
