The streets are not the same
but they still echo with the memory
of our steps.
I still hear your laughter
as we held hands and ran through the rain.
Ever after, I hummed Neil Sedaka on that street
and contemplated surrealism.
Decades later,
I can still hear our laughter.
Wonderful poem…..
Thanks, Tosh.
Your poem is very sweet.
Thanks, Kevin.
Neil Sadaka. Now that is a name I haven’t heard in a long time! Love your poem:)
I adored Neil Sedaka’s music as a kid. Most of his fans are a generation or two ahead of me, but I was never cool!
I just googled him and see he just did a concert in BC last month. Probably a good thing I didn’t know, or hubby would have chilling with old people! Sedaka is 75 now.
I can “see” his face…trying to remember a song! It is almost on the tip of my tongue! Now I will have to Google!:)
Oh Carol? Calendar Girls? Breaking Up is Hard to Do?
Oh my, yes… Breaking up hard to do! Now I will be “singing” this in my head! 🙂 How can one forget:)
Enjoy the ear worm! 🙂
Lovely! I particularly am drawn to your last line.
Thanks, Jaime.
