I heard you sent it
and it makes me smile
to know my mail box
will receive a gift
from the past.
When it arrives
I will float back in time,
swim in memories for a while,
then break the surface
to be thankful
for now.

Your poem (as always) is a great read. It brought back a ton of memories for me.
Thanks, Kevin
simple yet beautiful, love it ๐
Thank you, Nicole.
Yes, simply lovely.
Thanks.
Gifts from the heart are timeless.
Indeed.
And commercial transactions between old friends.
Lovely!
Thank you, Freeda.
very lovely!
Thanks.
Sweet little poem Shawn, almost lyrical….wish I had the capability to set it to music….best wishes..Raj .
lol
Funny you should say that, considering it is a gift of music: http://aminbhatia.com/projects/albums/more-about-is25/.

This poem brought a smile to my face. It captures a set of emotions that we experience so rarely nowadays with instant emails and text messages (and little snail mail…).
And thanks for following my blog! I am also a BC resident (although I am currently living in Peru), did a Rotary Youth Exchange and while I am not a certified teacher yet, I am planning on obtaining my certification soon.
It seems like you have mixed a lot of great elements into your current lifestyle, cheers!
Well, Ciera, it appears we are kindred spirits! My daughter was also a Rotary Youth Exchange student, and as a result, did a double degree in French and Spanish which is leading to her becoming a French Immersion teacher. She’ll be certified to teach next September! (I find it quite astonishing, since plainly I was only on exchange myself a couple of years ago!) ๐ Time flies.
All the best on your training. It’s a hard road, becoming a teacher, particularly in the current BC climate. I wouldn’t have encouraged my daughter if she wasn’t doing French Immersion. It’s the only area where there is a demand. It’s discouraging for so many young teachers!
Thanks, Shawn! Kindred spirits indeed (and like you, I am also an amateur/pro musician, a violinist). ๐
Good for your daughter for pursuing the French Immersion BEd. I have to choose two of Social Studies, French and/or Spanish as my ‘teachables’, and while I love Spanish more than French, I know that French is more likely to get me a job. I never did French Immersion, I only ever had 3 hours of French a week in high school, but I love the language and did a university exchange in France. (Clearly, the Rotary exchange implanted a travel bug in me).
Time will tell…just applying for the BEd program and having my courses be deemed as acceptable pre-req’s is proving to be a difficult, time consuming process. (Sigh…)
I am glad to have connected with you ๐ Best wishes!
All the best. So much depends on who is retiring at which moment and whether you walk through the door at the precise moment you need to!
Lovely indeed…i recollect that most of my precious gifts are belated ๐
lol
Or at least most appreciated in retropect?
Thanks for stopping in!
