He said
his mother was dead,
because the gulf
between them
was wide with guilt
and jumping it
was beyond
their capability.
She said
her son was lost
because his choices
marooned him
on an island of his own making
and would not let
anyone in.
They said
their journeys
were in opposite directions
but eventually,
on the other side of the world,
they’re bound to intersect.

They would intersect but only if they keep moving…..
Only one has to be moving, actually… 😉
Lol… True

Very deep thought provoking poem. Don’t let the chasm between yourself and your loved ones, family, or relatives become so vast that the possibility of reconciliation is in the next world. We are called to Forgiveness as God has Forgiven us.
Wow!! Getting ready for church and this poem touches on a subject that has troubled many of us hurt, anger, Forgiveness. One of the decisions in life I’m most grateful for is that my mother and I were able to rebuild our relationship as mother and daughter before she passed away in August 1998. We made the choice to let go of the past allow love to rule and those last three years of her life were a Blessing for both of us.

I’m glad you were able to rebuild your relationship.
SLB, the sentiments expressed in this poem are brilliant. Well done, Madam. Well done, indeed.
Thank you.
as an example when one passes away and there is money to be had, often it creates strife and there is never a reconciliation in the family. money is divisive. though the dissention you show in your piece is strong you provide hope at the end.
Thanks
