One of my stranger talents is the recitation of this tongue twister. My students over the years have been entertained, and the last couple of years they have encouraged me to record it for Youtube. Here it is at last! lol Enjoy! 😉
.
The words are,
“Betty Botter bought some butter, but she said, the butter’s bitter. If I put it in my batter, it will make my butter bitter. So she bought a bit of butter, better than the bitter butter, and she put it in her batter and the batter wasn’t bitter. So t’was better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter.”

😉
Ha! Totally tickled me…thanks Shawn for this bit of Betty Botter!
You’re welcome!
No way! Impressive
lol
Thats a rare gift you have. Its was as funny as it was impressive.
lol I had a friend who could speak fast, too. When we got going, people would hang their mouths on their chests. I remember him looking at their faces and dead panning, “It saves us a fortune in long distance charges.” 😉
I had the same reaction when I saw the video. Its hard to imagine there are more people with the “superspeak” gift
lol
Totally blown away! That’s quite a tongue twister. Shawn, where did you develop your love for mythology? I remember taking humanities and how it seemed to bore me at the time, but you make sense of it and bring it to life.
You know, I spent years looking at books on Greek mythology, and thinking “I’ve really got to learn this stuff someday.” Of course, it has turned out to be very true! However, I learned on the fly. When I needed a character, I looked him/her up at http://www.theoi.com and it was amazing how the connections led to natural conflicts! I had the names Bright and Blythe before I knew the sisters were Graces, for example. Imagine my surprise, to discover Euphrosyne (aka Radiance aka Bright) and Thalia (aka Happiness aka Blythe). Then I knew there was a third sister, and away it went! Discovering who is the god of what has created some interesting plot twists! Once I’ve written them, they become real to me. It’s been quite entertaining all the way around.
Thanks. I enjoy your blog. I have a manuscript I’m editing now and once thought of using astronomy in a follow up book. Keep writing!!!
Fun! Thanks for sharing the video! 🙂
You’re welcome.
Wow my brain can’t even move that fast.
lol
you should have a warning – ‘Don’t try this at home’ 🙂
Oh, but you should!
My tongue may never untwist…
lol It’s a fun one. I’ve just been challenged with this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1bqPmMNdCg&feature=youtu.be I think I’d want to re-write it to be longer and make a little more sense, though…
The aliens who were about to invade the planet just turned back – well done Shawn (-:
I’m better than country music, then! Yay! (I’m presuming it was Mars attacking, of course)
Good job, reminds me of one I’ve been saying all my life: Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, Where’s the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?
Ah yes! A classic! I should try doing a video of that one, some time.
