Morning rain
pouring over drains
everywhere,
overflowing weirs.
Rivers risen,
spreading,
heading for places
no river should be.
We could see roads
but brown water
obscures,
fills houses
rushes, hisses.
Morning rain,
Warnings reign.
Please water,
drain.

For my friends and their families in Southern Alberta suffering from the massive flooding throughout the region. May people, pets, and possesssions be reunited without damage. May insurance cover the rebuilding! May rebuilding be prompt.

I will pray for your family and friends there. Your work might I add is beautiful.
Thank you. It’s incredible devastation, but there is a lot of oil money there, so I trust the rebuilding will be fast and the province will be supportive of the hundred thousand or so people who have had their homes damaged.
I have not seen the news truthfully and was completely unaware. My sister lives in Red Deer, right in the middle of Edmonton and Calgary. She hadn’t mentioned it, likely thinking I knew about it. I hope recovery is quick, but when sentimental things are lost, that in itself is devastating. Blessings
I think Red Deer is likely okay. It’s the Bow and Elbow that are causing all the trouble. The TransCanada Hwy is washed out around Canmore, and downtown Calgary and High River are a mess. Here’s a link to some good coverage on it: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/story/2013/06/21/f-alberta-floods.html
Thank you for providing the link. I appreciate you
We too have personal friends affected by this devastation. Our hopes are the same. A lovely tribute to them all. ❤
Thanks.
I hope all is well with you and yours! Floods are terrifying things,we have many here in Italy and they are so devastating! Many years ago I traveled the Alcan with my family and remember the whole area with affection, in fact, I tell my son, that if he should decide to cross the water, choose Canada…hope all settles quickly.
We were shocked to see the devastation in Vernazza, Cinque Terre on October 25, 2011. We had stayed there in 2010, and were charmed by the region. So happy to see that it has recovered. Canada is beautiful, and British Columbia particularly so, but Italy is a very, very special land.
Sorry, got knocked off line! I was saying, thanks, we have had the problem very often over here, especially in the winter. This year, the weather has been crazy, let’s hope that it settles soon.
Once again you impress me, Poetry is seldom used to convey a sentiment that is greater than the poet, for poetry at its core is the intimacy in words. Well done.
Why thank you!
Reblogged this on My Blog snuppy.
We have plenty of rain up north along with floods. It is rare for South Aussie to suffer with floods. We are the driest state. My prayer and thought go out to you and your family
My best wishes to you and Yours.
