Sleep is the sea

reaching out to you

embracing you in a wave

You collapse under it like a sand castle

dissolving into the depths.

Makes me want to go on a vacation somewhere warm with a clear sea where I can rest on the beach for hours without worry.

I really like this poem!!! XD Especially the line, “You collapse under it like a sand castle,” since readers are able to visually see a sand castle crumpling underneath the wave.

Also, I think the last line is really effective because the word “fade” kind of conjures up a bunch of meanings. I’m not entirely sure if sand fades in water (chemistry is not my strong point :P), but the line kind of makes me think of all the events of the day fading away. Which is probably the purpose of the poem in the first place. The next day is a new day to build a new sand castle, and if it fails, it’ll be washed away, so you can build a new one the next day. *stating the obvious*

It’s a really awesome image! Glad I read this XD

Thanks Kayla- I was thinking of the castle fading into the sea, as opposed to the sand itself. Castle fades into sand. All the works are erased into essential elements…

  4. love this,

    brilliant piece of poetry.
