Boom box boy
bouncing to the smoke pit
announcing your existence-
loudly.
Stride on
Caught in a lost decade
I’m grateful as that music fades.

Short n simple always the best!
(and much faster to write!) 😉
Bahaha – perfect!
🙂
Boom Box! That was during the, uh what was it, you know, between the 70s and the 90s thereabout? Maybe earlier, I don’t know. That would bring back memories if I could just remember them.
Apparently there are 3 kids at my school walking around with these noisy things. I’m amused when my head isn’t throbbing.
You could bring your own boom box in and blast the music you like best. Turnabout is fair play!
I might be able to find a Walkman around here. Boombox, not so much! lol
Lots on Ebay, I just looked! Wow!!!
You really capture, in the last two lines, the longing for lost youth. It’s almost as if this boy reminds you of one who rejected you long ago, and that’s why you’re grateful for the fading music. Time heals all wounds, as they say.
(Just as an aside, are you aware of the suggestive advertisements that appear on your blog? Doesn’t seem appropriate for a high school teacher.)
We don’t have any control over the ads that WordPress shows. I’ve been unimpressed with those I’ve seen lately- both in their crappy design that now crowds in on the blog posts and the ad content. This suggests it’s time to upgrade to the ad free version. Just haven’t made the move yet. My renewal date isn’t until the spring.

lol. That works, I suppose.
The less poetic reason is that with my Post-concussion syndrome, that noise is physically painful and I don’t have my ear plugs in as I heading into the building. 🙂 It’s good when he’s further away!
