That was all
there was.
When she stretched

That was all

When she trusted

That was all

When she reached

I do not know how others interpreted this but I would say heartbreak in three sentences tops. Oh wow I cannot believe you can do this so nice. I would have sent one to my ex boyfriend. Super nice poem. Made me think of how others hurt me but don’t get me wrong. I believe when something made me reminisce then that thing is really something to think about and ponder π
Interpretation belongs to the reader. The message that comes to you may not be the same as mine, and if you were to read this in a year, it may not speak the same way to you again, either. That is a fundamental power of poetry.
π thank you for the info. It is just in movies. titanic has a whole different meaning to me every time I watch it π thanks for replying π
What do you mean ‘it is just in movies’?
Oh I mean in my case when I re-watch my favorite movie Titanic, it would be after one or two years always, and every time I watch it it is like the first time watching it because I have different interpretation of the characters in the movie. Something like that. Maybe I could relate more as the years pass by.
OMG I replied already but now that I checked in you website the thread I saw the “it is just in movies” I’m sorry I wanted to say “It is just like in movies” I think the like was omitted by my hand or by my brain. But yeah there should be a “like” in between. π
Ah ha! It all makes sense now! lol
Yup yup yup I’m confused too don’t worry. Nice to know we are in the same page of the same book now lol
lol
I really really like the metre of this piece; it feels like the languid motion of a conductor’s baton, each quatrain ending with softness and the simplicity and power of the verb “to be.”
Thanks, Dale. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for stopping by.
Still trying to understand but love the meaning i think it has π
The meaning always belongs to the reader.
My apologies, but this brought to mind the famous economist, John Maynard Keynes, quote “In the long term we’ll all be dead”.
lol
This is great. A real thinking poem.
Thanks. π
After that, there suddenly was more.
Yes.
Hope and expectation reconciling with ground reality and, hopefully, mutual acceptance…very well woven into three quatrains…
Thank you. π
I love the rhythm and the pattern, I wasn’t trying to dive in too deep, only enjoy your words. Thanks Shawn π
My pleasure!
Cool! π
You so beautifully know how to capture the reader with few words.. Caro
Thanks, Caro
You are welcome
