(I was an exchange student in Finland when I was 18. I have been back a couple of times, but I’m still waiting for my Finns to come visit me in Canada!)

Hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää kansalle ja maan!
Niin!
From which country Finland got their independence?
1917 they declared independence from Russia. They’d been a Grand Duchy of Russia from 1809 to 1917. Prior to that they’d been a Grand Duchy of Sweden for several hundred years, but Sweden lost the territory in the Finnish War.
I love the delicious authentic brevity of your raw works above . . . send me more!

How fortuitous that I may very well be in Finland, in the autumn of 2017.
You’re booking 3 years in advance?
Impressive!
I had a plan to use some Finnish observations in my Masters program, with a visit to some schools there thus required. However, I’d better be finished the degree by 2016 or I’ll be most irritated!
my girlfriend is Finnish and my son is half Finnish! wooooo
I miss Finland this time of year. Which is kind of funny, because when I lived in Finland, I was REALLY lonely for Canada this time of year! lol Can’t win.

It is a lovely country, and the people are gentle and look after one another. I love the socialist principles applies so everyone enjoys a good life. Low crime, equitable education, excellent services.
