I walk through my

childhood neighbourhood.

Just because,

I lean against the lamp post

I held up every morning

in grade seven

as I waited for the bus.

Different weather

but always too

early in the morning.

More rusty,

it hummed

a greeting

remembering

(or maybe

that was me).

Yep – I remember my lamp post also! My brother and I hid a small stone behind it and would play football with it till the bus came. As you say, it was always too early. We stood in the dark and watched the sunrise in winter! Your poems are the first thing I read each morning. Thank you for them and the thoughts they evoke 🙂

A nice warm, fuzzy memory in verse. Loved it.
