I sent my latest YA title, While I Was Out off to the editor this morning at 6 a.m. Later this week we’ll meet to discuss it, and hopefully by the end of the summer it’ll be off to my agent.
Now I’m back to selecting pieces for my poetry collections which I also hope to be sending off to publishers by the end of the month.
As well, I need to pull together the last workshop I’m presenting at When Words Collide.

Eventually. We still have to work through the editing process. I hope she won’t find too much that needs to be reconsidered or re-worked! I have at least one spot I know needs some attention, but editor discussions generally work out all those bumps.

I pitched to 3 agents at Surrey International Writers Conference over a couple of years. All three requested full submissions, but I particularly connected with one, and ended up signing with her.
Someday maybe I will have the confidence to do thei.
Conferences are inspiring and encouraging places. “Your tribe” celebrates you and educates you. At Surrey there are ‘how to pitch’ workshops, where you actually practice writing and presenting your pitch, so you’re ready for your appointment. 🙂 I did one with Carol Mason my first conference, and as a result of her help pruning my pitch to brilliance, eventually signed with the publisher to whom I pitched!
I just went one day that year. The next, I did the whole conference. Unfortunately, this year my father’s 100th birthday is the same weekend, so I don’t think I’ll be able to make it.

It’s always exciting to complete a project, though sending off to the editor means it isn’t ‘complete’ by a long shot. Just one more stop along the journey.
