I can’t sing you a sad song.
patience for life’s lovers
all these people,
opened up,
howl like children
for something different in these places.
Mermaids only dream
our burning love.
I will not take
first dandelions,
each one a kiss
weighing heavy on my heart.
Warm breath on my neck,
I have burned.
I could write between the lines
the many masks of the broken child:
Rainbow sprays in the garden.
I love you still.
Lullaby sea
has aged gracefully.
Time has taken
the dewdrops of sadness
awaiting damnation,
silencing the crowds.
Blink of an eye,
what was wholly irrelevent
blossoms in the mind:
I never see you smiling.
Life makes us cynical,
oddly balanced.
That impossible moment
lights the trees,
the sky looks like me.

It’s fascinating how it always seems to come together into something interesting, though it’d be nice if people wrote about happier stuff! 😉
As I say to people who complain that what I write is depressing … Where’s the drama in happy?
There can be a lot of drama in happy, fighting to be so. It is rarely a straight forward, simple thing to choose, in the face of difficulty, to take the HARD road, and choose to be content.
Ask anyone battling mental illness whether being happy is easy and drama-free…
Fighting for happiness, struggling to get there … yes, that’s drama, but the story is in the overcoming of the struggle, of the despair, of the whatever it is that is in the way of happiness. 🙂
Creating something like this is a novel talent in itself 😀

Intriguing idea – couldn’t tell you if any of my lines were there, but it got me to read the whole thing. 🙂
If you go to your own blog, check for what you posted on April 24, and calculate the time for your area to Pacific Daylight Time, you should know whether a line could be there… 😉 Generally a line is taken from the first half dozen lines of the originating poem if that helps.

This is beautiful, and what a great idea. lots of stunning imagery, but my favourite lines I think are, ‘I will not take first dandelions each one a kiss’. Not sure why, but it really touches me…
