When people are oppressed
it is the citizens’ duty to rise!
When rights are taken from one group
it is the citizens’ duty to rise!
When a government’s actions are illegal
it is the citizens’ duty to rise!
When faced with injustice
it is the citizens’ duty to rise!
For when one group is oppressed
You will be next.
When rights are taken from one group
You will be next.
When government acts illegally against one group
You will be next.
When faced with injustice you must fight or
You will be next!

When you work hard or you work till late,
your efforts will pay and your results will be great.
Or the government will raise its guns
and all your protest will be done.
I agree with you much more sense and practical!
Reminds me of the energy and determination that walt whitman used to bring to his readers through poetry.
Thank you.
It sounds as though you have been following the latest political news in Australia. Especially about asylum seekers who are locked on an island in Papua and told if they come by both they will NEVER be settled in Australia. But if they have enough money they can fly in and welcome.
lol. Injustice is everywhere, apparently!
Oh so true.. If only it was that easy..
It’s a relatively simple thing to stand, it just requires a hell of a lot of courage and steadfastness when the unlawful government is against you and spreading misinformation. Then it requires EVERYONE to stand before change will occur.
Go Shelley!
Who’s Shelley?
Percy Bysshe Shelley – the original poet rebel:
‘Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number,
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you-
Ye are many — they are few”
Ah! Literary allusion! Thank you for the clarification! 🙂
Absolutely….it is the citizen’s duty to rise in the face of injustice! Very sobering post. Thank you for visiting and following my other blog. I truly appreciate the support! Keep on rising and have a great day! 🙂
Thank you.
Good reminder. I’m getting old and have been “marching” for decades and sometimes feel like it is useless. In the scheme of history, however, it is more important to have a voice than to be silent, no matter the outcome
What an important thought: “it is more important to have a voice than to be silent.” Thanks for that.
Amen! Amen!

So mote it be.
🙂
Reminds of that poem written about the nazis, this is brilliant. A pity I don’t write about more important stuff
I don’t usually write political stuff, but zowie! Sometimes you need to raise your voice!
Truth beautifully stated!
Thanks
And, even if you are not next, even if you are forever protected from this direct violation, you very humanity has been violated by the denial of someone else’s humanity.
Ah. Well put.
Very well put and a clear answer to apathy.
Thanks
