It’ll be a big event this birthday.

We haven’t seen them in so long.

It’s a perfect reason to celebrate!

The whole family can come (all ten of them)

The invitations are gorgeous

The bakery is chosen

Flower vases are waiting for beautiful arrangements

“It sounds like my birthday is just an excuse”

Um.  Yes.  That’s what a birthday party is–

an excuse to get together with your family.

“Have a family gathering any Sunday.

“I don’t want my birthday to be an excuse.”

So I hung up the phone,

baffled beyond words,

and suggested we cancel the plane ticket.
