Three thirty-three in the morning

I awaken, drenched in sweat.

I turn on the fan,

waiting for sleep to return

wishing that you were beside me.

    The thought of you
    not being there,
    laying my hand upon —
    feeling the cold
    loving spot
    disappointingly bare.

    Knowing your thoughts
    are truly with me
    i feel safe without dispare
    knowing you love me
    and truly care!

I’m wearing the tee shirt. It’s no fun missing someone.
    xxx Mammoth Hugs xxx

    • Ah, David. 😦 Hugs to you. What a road you’ve had.

I’m just out of town on a conference. You’ve reminded me how blessed I am that I will be going home to the embrace in a few days.

  4. 3:30 am Wake-up Call. Sounds like a Hot Flash/Night Sweats moment. I have a lot of those.

    • It was a hot night, but I think it was more new neighbourhood, different noises. I had to put on the fan though. Unseasonably warm in Calgary, but cooled down today.

My husband has been away on an artists retreat since the beginning of July. This really hit home…lovely….

  6. This is so sad. I’ve definitely been there before. I love how clear and concise this poem it but how large of a message it sends. Great poem!
